Acono Ridge Phase Two, better known as Woodridge Park is located in the community of Maracas Valley. In the late 1870’s and early 1880’s there was a resurgence of the cocoa industry in Trinidad and two estates namely La Merced and Maracas Valley were purchased by the Cadbury brothers of Bournville. The Ortinola Cocoa Estate just over a mile away, is a legacy of Acono’s rich history. Additionally, Acono was home to a Amerindian community as evident by the Caurita Stone approximately eight feet high by six feet wide which depicts a chief, other persons in ceremonial garments and an image of a deer. It is considered by Amerindian communities to be of religious significance.
Acono is a fast growing residential suburb in Northern Trinidad. Acono, Maracas Valley allows easy access to the commercial centres of St. Joseph (the first capital of Trinidad), Curepe and Tunapuna.
